It's Started!

Today Bill Parcells fired Miami Dolphins GM Randy Mueller. Now seriously, Stevie Wonder could have seen this one coming. I doubt this will be the last firing in the Parcells regime. Could head coach Cam Cameron be next?

I don't think that Randy Mueller or Cam Cameron are bad at their positions, they just aren't the right people for the job in Miami. Things have gone from bad to worse, to terrible to unspeakable....well, you get the picture. I think it is time for a clean sweep in the front office and the Big Tuna is the one to get it done.

Now we all get to speculate on who will fill these positions. Brian Billick was fired by the Ravens today, after a 5-11 season and a Superbowl win in the 2000 season. I don't think he will be the last head coach that becomes available, but I am sure that Parcells already has his eyes on someone. It could be Tony Sparano from the Dallas Cowboys, but he has already gone for an interview with the Atlanta Falcons. Hmmm, he saw success with the Cowboys after Parcells was in charge, but I am sure he will go to the Falcons, who are in total disarray after their star quarterback goes to prison and the head coach walks away in the middle of the season. (Yes, I am being very sarcastic.)

The other person in his sights is GM candidate Jeff Ireland, also from the Cowboys. I expect to see one or both of them on the job in Miami very soon. Whoever Parcells picks, I expect to see some drastic changes in the team and playoffs by 2009. Even though he won't be coaching, I believe he will still make the same impact on this team that he has on the other teams he has run. Lookout New England, we're coming!

Can the Dolphins win one for the Tuna?

Today on NFL network and ESPN it was reported that the Miami Dolphins worked a little bit harder when ne VP of Football Operations, Bill Parcells, showed up at practice. Does this mean they were afraid of losing their jobs? Well, all the analysts seem to think that is what was happening. They want to give it their all so they will still be employed in the NFL next season.
I have a different take on it. It seems quite logical actually. A legend in the NFL is hired to run the team. He makes his first appearance at team practice and inspires them. I think the players see him as the light at the end of the tunnel! Could it make them win this week? I doubt that, since they have been plagued with injuries and are missing some key personel. However, stranger things have happened. What I do know is that the fans are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We have had two unproven head coaches, with Nick Saban and now Cam Cameron. Both are great football minds, but neither had been a head coach in the NFL before. I would have almost felt better about having Dennis Green coach this season. At least he is who we thought he was.
All jokes aside, the comparison between Denny Green and Cam Cameron shows what this team has lacked. SOME FIRE! I don't think Denny would have been the answer, but having Bill Parcells in charge will give the team the fire they need.
So in the meantime, 15 down, 1 to go, another team and one more show.
